Der PCMark 8 beinhaltet sechs unterschiedliche Tests, inklusive einem Benchmark zum Batterielaufzeit testen. Daneben gibt es drei Test für die allgemeine Performance und einen weiteren zum Testen der Systemspeicherleistung. Der letzte Test benutzt schlussendlich normale Anwendungen wie zum Beispiel Photoshop.
Die Benchmarksuite gibt es in drei unterschiedlichen Varianten: Basic, Advanced und Professional. Die Basic Variante ist dabei kostenlos, die kostenpflichtige Advanced Version richtet sich an den Poweruser und die Professional Variante an Profis.

- The tests now provide better support for NVMe drives. Scores from NVMe drives will improve in some cases. The faster the drive, the bigger the difference. Other types of drive are unaffected.

- Video Chat test now works even when there is no audio device in the system.
