Bereits Anfang des Jahres berichteten wir über Pläne von Futuremark, sich als Spielehersteller zu profilieren. Nun hat das Futuremark Game Studio auf der Games Convention in Leipzig einen ersten Einblick auf das Spiel "Shattered Horizon" gewährt.
Die Story des Spieles fasst Futuremark wie folgt zusammen:
"Man is back on the moon and the companies that took him there are reaping huge profits. Their greed soon leads to the largest mining accident in history, when an explosion throws billions of tons of rocky debris into near-Earth space. Fragments of the Moon settle around the Earth and become known as the Arc.
With Earth surrounded by debris there´s little chance of rescue or return. Survivors on the Moon are forced into conflict with the astronauts and scientists trapped on the sprawling Internation Space Station. Control of the Arc now means the difference between survival and death in the cold of space."
Futuremark hat die Geschichte als First-Person-Shooter mit Multiplayer-Option umgesetzt und die Handlung in die Schwerelosigkeit verlegt. Die Entwickler versprechen, dies auch in die Kontrollen des Spieles einzuarbeiten und durch die Schwerelosigkeit neue, bisher unbekannte Möglichkeiten zu eröffnen. Auch zwei Screenshots sind nun auf der Homepage zu finden.
